In order to ensure a safe demonstration phase, the final human-machine interface (HMI) got assessed in a user-study. On the one-hand side the usability in terms of intuitive interaction with the HMI got investigated and consequently optimized. On the other hand, the level of potential distraction caused by the HMI was evaluated. The outcome has proven that the system is safe to be operated in public traffic. Additionally, it was a good chance to get feedback about the electric scooter after – at least virtual – riding. It was clearly indicated that the majority of users could imagine to commute with such an electric scooter instead of their regular means of transport.
